It’s 50-50! Working with your agent is like any other relationship. That. A relationship. And all relationships are based on trust and honesty.

You may end up thanking your agent in your Oscars acceptance speech after 30 years of service, that’s a family member. It has to be based on trust and honesty.

Building a relationship with your agent takes time, patience, experience and a lot of trial and error. In order to sell you well, your agent needs to know you. Personally and professionally.

It has to be the right fit!

But how do you know if it is or not if you’ve not met them? Reputation means everything in this game. If your agent is well known in the industry and has the right contacts, this is half the battle. Research! Make sure you research everything about that agent, their work, their company, their actors, everything!

Don’t blanket email all agents hoping that one will bite. Research and make sure it’s the right. A bad agent can undo a lot of the work you have put in to your career!
