Meet a young performer, Pixie, who attended last year’s expo with no previous experience, and left with a new agent! Since attending Young Talent Expo 2023, Pixie has had a whirlwind year and we are super excited to have had a tiny part in Pixie’s journey!
We caught up with Pixie to hear about her life since attending Young Talent Expo, and her tips for other young performers attending this year!
Why did you come to Young Talent Expo last year?
I went to Young Talent expo last year to meet with Bonnie as I was applying to Bonnie and Betty and wanted to get some tips on self-tapes and what she was looking for. I also wanted to meet Alisha Weir as I am massive fan as I loved the film Matilda so much.
What did you expect from the expo?
I hoped that I would get the opportunity to get some tips, guidance and listen to the experience of other people who were already making films, a year ago self-tapes were a whole new world to us, so we wanted to find out as much as we could.
Since meeting Bonnie, and signing with her agency, what have been your highlights?
Since meeting Bonnie and signing with her agency my highlight must be filming on Wicked, it was magical and beyond my wildest dreams for my first job.
Wow, you shot the adaption of Wicked, how was that experience?
It was AMAZING the costumes were fabulous, walking into hair and makeup seeing wonderful wigs and beautiful costumes, meeting lots of wonderful people, The Director Jon was funny and kind, I also got to meet Ariana Grande which was just mind – blowing ! Choreographer Chris was brilliant and made it soo much fun on set. I knew from being on set that this was where I belonged and what I wanted to do.
How excited are you to watch it in the cinema when it’s released?
Bursting!! I just can’t wait to see it! Seeing the trailer to part 1 in the cinema gave me goosebumps and made me cry! I cannot wait for part 2 and to see myself on the Big screen.
You’ve got your West End debut as Alice Creel in Stranger Things: The First Shadow coming up, how are you feeling?
I am so excited and a little bit nervous for my debut, I can’t wait to get started, putting on my costume and wig and to get on stage. I’m so grateful to be part of Stranger Things: The First Shadow and looking forward to this new adventure.
What is your advice for anyone attending Young Talent Expo this year?
My advice would be, listen to all the talks and interviews, ask lots of questions, make connections, tips and tricks to nail those self tapes this helped me at the start of my journey. Everyone is like minded, encouraging and wants you to succeed in the industry, so this is a great day and perfect for those starting out, follow your dreams as you don’t know what’s round the corner.
We hope to see you all at Young Talent Expo 2024
